AIIMS Guwahati marks sixth institute day with academic and public events

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Guwahati, on Monday marked its sixth institute day with a series of academic, clinical and public engagement programmes, according to a press release issued by the Press Information Bureau.

The institute day celebrations included academic sessions, health-related outreach activities and events highlighting the institute’s progress in medical education, research and patient care since its establishment. Officials said the occasion was used to review milestones achieved and ongoing initiatives.

According to the PIB release, faculty members, students and staff participated in programmes focusing on advances in healthcare delivery and the institute’s role in strengthening tertiary medical services in the North-Eastern region.

The institute also highlighted its expansion in clinical services and academic programmes, with officials referring to efforts to improve access to specialised healthcare for patients from Assam and neighbouring states.

AIIMS Guwahati, one of the newer AIIMS institutions established under the central government’s healthcare expansion programme, serves as a referral centre for advanced medical treatment and postgraduate medical training in the region.

Officials said the institute continues to focus on building infrastructure, strengthening faculty capacity and expanding super-specialty services in line with national healthcare objectives.

The press release did not announce any new academic programmes, infrastructure projects or policy decisions in connection with the institute day celebrations.
